Transistor Media | Jean-Sébastien Côté

Transistor Média is a Gatineau-based documentary and fiction podcast creation and production studio located in Old Aylmer, whose mission is to create, produce and distribute digital audio works, with a focus on sound creation, radio art and podcasting. Transistor presents the annual Festival de la radio numérique (FRN) and Kino-radio.

 

Jean-Sébastien Côté is a Canadian composer and sound designer based in Aylmer, Quebec. His work is closely linked to that of director Robert Lepage; he has composed and/or designed the soundscapes for many of his productions, including 887, Les aiguilles et l'opium, Lipsynch, La trilogie des dragons, La face cachée de la lune, Le dragon bleu and Le projet Andersen. He has also worked with some of the country's leading directors and choreographers, including Daniel Brooks, Wajdi Mouawad, François Girard and Mélanie Demers.


Alongside his stage creations, he has composed music for and mixed many audiovisual documents, documentaries, podcasts, TV commercials, multimedia installations and virtual reality (VR) experiences. He has also designed numerous sound diffusion systems for permanent installations and touring shows.


More recently, he has developed his expertise in multimedia and interactive installations, providing technical design and musical and sound content for projects by companies such as TKNL, 4U2C-Cirque du Soleil, Normal Studio, Ottomata, Atomic3 and 4Elements, in order to deliver a rich and engaging sound experience to the general public.


He is currently Director of Sound Creation at Transistor Média.
