DJ Hokum

William Desjardins, aka DJ Hokum, is an avid collector of 78s from the 1920s-1950s.

Over more than 20 years, he has amassed a world-renowned collection of over 4,000 records in all genres, including jazz, blues, country, tropical, rock & roll, and Quebec folk, to name but a few.

Many of his records exist only in his collection and have never been reissued.

One of Canada's only 78 RPM DJs, DJ Hokum offers a refreshing sonic atmosphere with music from the good old days!

Don't miss DJ Hokum's performance of Les pionniers du disque at Listening Session #1 on Thursday, September 14th, starting at 7PM in our BlackBox (78 rue Hanson, Gatineau QC).

For Les pionniers du disque, DJ Hokum will play songs from Quebec folk music. He'll also tell stories about the artists, their instruments and their songs, and talk about the recording industry in Quebec. Family traditions, created in the kitchens of Quebec's working-class population, are still fascinating stories today.
