Claude Schryer


Claude Schryer (1959, Ottawa, il/lui) is a Franco-Ontarian cultural worker who believes that the arts, in the context of decolonization, can play a much greater role in addressing the ecological crisis. He defines his artistic aesthetic as 'an exploration of the liminal space between reality, fantasy and spirit'. 1979 to 1999: MM composition McGill University, interdisciplinary practices, soundscape composition, radio creation and sound ecology. 1999 to 2020 : Manager of the Inter-Arts Office and Senior Strategic Advisor to the Canada Council for the Arts. 2021 -... : Producer of the Conscious Podcast (arts + ecological crisis), founding member of Arts Sector Leadership on the Urgency of Ecological Transition (LeSAUT), strategic advisor, lecturer, composer, chi gong quotient practitioner, son of Jeannine and Maurice, husband of Sabrina, father of Clara and Riel.
